The SOAP Troupe was started 21 years ago by Marjorie McTaggart, Bill Weddle, and Bill Benton. They had a brainstorm to get seniors involved in theatre, so they set out to round up some people who were interested. They decided to call themselves the SOAP (Slightly Older Adult Players) Troupe and they settled on the membership age to be 50 years of age and older. Their main objective was to help people get over their inhibitions and fears of performing and do something that would be fun! Today’s SOAP Troup has carried on the same objectives and continue the tradition of entertaining their audience and spreading the fun. The City of Fort Collins sponsors the SOAP Troupe through the Senior Center. The Troupe performs two big shows every year. The first is on the first weekend in May, and the next one is the first weekend in December. The Bridging the Gap program is entitled 'Embracing those Senior Moments'.
